But Im not the Criminal!!!

Seriously, there are some people in our world who get offended when ask for I.D when using credit cards? Yeah you read that right. I just read the newspaper and for some strange reason i decided to read Miss. Manners. The writer was stating how they get offended when asked for I.D when they use their credit cards. No matter how much they argue with the clerk and then of course the manager, they can seem to make them understand how offensive that is to them. Then of course they get the "Its for your protection" line from the management. The question was how to make people understand without being "arrogant" that it is offensive to them?

OK, first if I was that clerk, Id assume this person was using a stolen credit card because they just wouldn't give me a darned I.D. I mean seriously what is SO offensive about checking the I.D. How do I know the "owner" didn't accidentally drop it somewhere or was pick pocketed or something. I DON'T KNOW!

Its not a question about your integrity, but wouldn't you rather the clerk make sure that if this was someone else using YOUR CARD, they'd check to make sure it was you using your own card. Honestly, if they didn't and someone charged up a slew amount of money on your card, you'd go PLUM MAD!!!! I know Id call the store first to give them a few words then Id be frantic with the credit card company making sure I don't have to be stuck with the bill.

So PERSON who wrote to Miss. Manners, go ahead and leave your credit card near by. I mean I don't go and take other people things, I have integrity, but its obvious that you don't care if others use your credit card...sounds to me like you don't mind SPREADING THE WEALTH...even if you don't know who the heck is using your card.

Its that time of year again!!!!

NO....NOT THANKSGIVING OR CHRISTMAS SHOPPING...although that is here too but I meant FLU SEASON!!! You know the sickness...the snotty noses, the coughs, the puke and so forth...the YUCKINESS!!! Yes, it has hit my house already!

Yes this is us at our house...SICK AS DOGS!!! Jesykah was the first to bring it home. She was out for nearly a week from school, man she was horrible. She ended up on a neubalizer and some steroids for her breathing. I mean she had bronchiolitis and croup. She was in her room most of the day, with the Vicks vaporizor on . I mean this house was a sauna! So she got better and then the following week, or this past monday...ERYKAH GETS SICK! yup...and Monikah. She got send home with a fever, Erykah woke up with a fever and they have been home since. Monikah is doing much better but EJ is not doing so well. Damn fever will not let up, shes just cant get over it. However, tomorrow we will finally see a doc.

Then there is me! Yes, I have it too and my stomach just said "DOES IT HURT DOES IT HURT...HUH DOES IT HURT??!!!" and I was like "HELL YEAH IT HURTS!!" So I am down for the count. Its not just my tummy though...I feel it all over but I think this bug couldnt get to all of me cause I just feel tired and achey. So this is a sick house...I cant stand it, Ive already missed over a weeks worth of work! I can afford to anymore...I need to work. I guess thats the price of being a mom, and its well worth it...I get to spend some quite time with my girls, all chilling out, even though we are all coughing and feeling like crap we get to just lounge around and watch movies, with our vick vaporizor next to us.

A Movie to Watch: August Evening

august evening

The first time I heard about this movie was when my parents were asking me to find out where it was showing. They were all excited about it and I didnt know why. I will tell you why in a bit. However their excitement peeked my curiosity for this movie. This is an independent film and I'm sure you will not hear about it. It might not come to your town. This film is a Doki-Doki production film and was written and directed by Chris Eska.

Now I normally do not watch independent films. The last one I watched was a good one too, "Turtles Can Fly" was the last one I watched. However because my parents were so excited I thought "HEY, why not?"

( L-R Abel Becerra "Victor" , Veronica Loren "Lupe" , Pedro Castenada "Jaime" )

Ok so this film is in Spanish BUT dont fret, it has English sub-titles. The film is based on a small Mexican family. This family is of a husband and wife, played by Pedro Castenada and Raquel Gavia, and their widowed daughter-in-law, played by Veronica Loren. This daughter in law is more of a daughter to this couple and she takes care of them. However their life is turned upside down with Maria's sudden death (Raquel Gavia) and then Jaime ( Pedro Castenada) looses his job because of his age. These are undocumented immigrants and you see the struggle that they have to endure . The couples real children seem to have distanced themselves and Lupe (Veronica Loren) is more of a real daughter to him that his own daughter and son. Now that Maria is gone Lupe feels she cant not leave her father in law. She feels the need to care for him as if he was her own father. However, she finds herself, almost unwillingly, falling in love and is torn between her new love and her loyalty to her late husbands father. This is truly a great movie. It being a low budget film, it had a big movie feel. It was well thought out and well put together. You have a family that has forgotten how to be a family find their way back to their father and a woman, who learns that there is more space in her heart to love everyone including what was in the past. Dont let the fact of it being a Spanish movie scare you into not watching it. You will surely miss out on a good movie. Im not one to say a movie is good when its not. I will tell you "DONT WATCH THAT MOVIE! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY" but when I find a good movie, I will tell you "YOU HAVE GOT TO WATCH THIS!" I mean, my two oldest daughters loved it. The do not understand a LICK of Spanish but they were on the edge of their seats waiting to see what was going to happen next. They understood it...these are little girls ages 11 and 9. They got the plot, they got the story and they LOVED IT!

(L-R Martin Resendez, Rebekah Resendez, Veronica Loren, Erykah-Marie Resendez, Priscilla Resendez and Pedro Castenada)

After the movie, were were graciously greeted by the actors who played the main characters in this movie. We had a Q&A and when we went to the lobby we got to take pics with them. So why were my parents excited. Well the truth is, Pedro Castenada who plays Jaime in the movie, well he's my dads first cousin. So the main character in this movie is my cousin. This is NOT the reason Im raving about this movie, it is truly a good movie. And you should go watch it. Tell your friends and if and when you do, come back here and let me know what you thought of it.
